Phylogenetic tree based on pollen morphology
Both the sunflower and chrysanthemum bloom in the summer which means that the pollen of these two flowers should be very similar. Since both flowers bloom in the summer, their pollen adapts and thrives in warm temperatures. The christmas cactus blooms in the winter which means its pollen is used to the colder temperatures and is made to withstand a different temperature. All of the flowers have different kinds of the pollen, but the chrysanthemum and sunflower have the more similar pollen when comparing size and shape of the pollen. Therefore, we can conclude that flowers that bloom in the same season are more closely related.
